The Fifth (5th) Reunion of SAFJUAA-2013

The fifth reunion of SAFJUAA was held in the Auditorium of Sasakawa hall at 14:00 hrs.

Mr. Sasai Daiji, First Secretary, Public Relations & Cultural Exchange Affairs, Embassy of Japan, Sri Lanka was the chief guest. Mr. P.B. Munsinghe immediate past President of Japanese Graduate Alumni Association of Sri Lanka (JAGAAS) welcomed the guests.

Dr. Md. Khurshid Alam explains about mission of Japanese Universities Alumni Association of Bangladesh (JUAAB) and its activities then Prof. Ashok Jain was called on the stage to present the activities of the Mombusho Scholars Association of India (MOSAI). He suggested that Japanese language speech contest may be viewed as a precursor to future activities jointly undertaken by SAFJUAA. He also wished to make SAFJUAA a wider network of members and their associated Japanese professors for joint activities to benefit future alumni.

Presentation on activities of Japan University Alumni association of Nepal (JUAAN) was made by Dr Rameshwar Prasad pokarel. He introduced the audience about the history of the major activities undertaken by JUAAN. Prof. Dr. Khalid Rashid, Finance Secretary of Mombukagakusho Alumni Association of Pakistan (MAAP) was requested to present the activities of MAAP. He introduced MAAP, its Objectives and events organized in the year 2012 namely film festival, MAAP monthly meetings, fare well in honor of Ambassador of Japan, solidarity with Japan, 4th SAFJUAA reunion, holding of international conformance and an art exhibition. He also proposed high level intellectual exchange of scholars and educators, understanding of Japanese cultural and integration within the south Asian culture and tradition.

Prof. Dr. Karunaratne made presentation about JAGAAS and its activities. He emphasized on the main objectivities of JAGAAS: to promote and foster culture in dedicational ties between the two countries and to assist members to gain knowledge by maintaining contacts with relevant institutions in Japan and Sri Lanka. The presentation also included photographs of various activities.

Prof. Dr. Khalid Rashid on behalf of outgoing president of MAAP, Dr. Zabta K Shinwari read vote of thanks and remarks.

Mr. Daiji Sasai presented his views and appreciated the reports presented by the speakers about the activities of the respective associations. He also thanked the guest speakers for their participation in the event. He appreciated the excellent effort put in organizing the event.

At the end of the session, the participants were requested to join for refreshments.
